Zunte Mezcal

Mezcal,
the oldest spirit in The Americas

Zunte Mezcal

The journey begins in San Luis Del Río, Oaxaca, Mexico under the watchful eye of ZUNTE Mezcal’s 4th generation Master Mezcalero family who share 155 years of experiences, stories and love for mezcal.

Our desire is to connect mezcal, the oldest spirit in the Americas with the modern world and uphold the legacy and soul of those who came before us. 500+ years of history meets modern times...ZUNTE is the nexus between both worlds!

Zunte Mezcal

Each bottle of ZUNTE Mezcal reflects a connection between land and heaven, water and soil, desire and hard work, & spirituality and family. That is why you will find our motto on every bottle we make: “Aunque tengas todo en la tierra, nunca dejes de mirar al cielo” or “Even if you have everything on earth, never stop looking at the sky”.

So take time for yourself, be grateful for what you have and dream about great things to come!

ARTISANAL PROCESS

Vibrant, smooth, with a hint of smoke, ZUNTE Mezcal blends handmade craftsmanship with ancient distilling techniques. The organic formula is a perfect balance of earth and talent, creating a bottle of drinkable art!

The agave is harvested at seven or eight years old, then we proceed to “jimar” (a process in which the hard, pointy leaves of agave plants are carefully cut off) and cut the piña.

Afterwards, the piña is cooked in a stone oven for 4 days and grinded on a traditional bakery (Tahona).

After crushing the agave, we pour it in wooden barrels with some crystalline water and ferment it for 12 to 15 days.

Finally, it goes through a 35 hour double distillation process in a copper still.
